National Assessment and Accreditation Council is now inspecting anna university to offer A grade to the university, it will come to know whether the university get A grade in the end of this month, NAAC is now inspecting infrastructure facility, syllabus schemes, teaching process, eligibility of lecturers, research programmes and all other features. NAAC team gives marks for each features separately.
Based on the overall score A grade status will be offered to the university.
NAAC council is working under the UGC of india, NAAC inspects higher education universities and gives four types of grades which are A, B, C and D based on the performance of the institutions. NAAC will not provide accreditation to the institutions which are getting D grade. If institutions get A, B or C grade then NAAC will offer accreditation to it.
If a institution get NAAC accreditation then it will receive more funds from UGC, so institutions are applying to NAAC to inspect it and provide grades. NAAC status for a institution will be eligible for 5 years. NAAC council already gave A grade to anna university but its validity was completed two year before. So As per the request of university NAAC inspection under the official Patin is now examining the university.
Inspection team consists of two former vice chancellors and 7 higher officials, it will scrutinize the university till july 26. This team will submit the report before UGC authorities. After this UGC will decides the type of status for Anna university. Varsity officials are hoping that it will get higher status which is A grade.
