In tamilnadu AICTE has given approval for starting 7 new engineering colleges, which includes one government college, due to this 2000 additional engineering seats are available for admission. These colleges will start to work from 2014-15 academic years.
Due to the supreme court order about AICTE authority, all the engineering colleges in India were came under UGC, followed by this UGC prepared a new regulations for colleges, even though Indian government gave approval for this it was not published in the gazette.
Then UGC announced that they need enough time to give approval for colleges so UGC going to stop giving approval for new colleges for 1 year. Against this odisha technical colleges association filed a case in Supreme Court.
Due to this case Supreme Court ordered that method followed in the 2013-14 can be followed for 2014-15 year too and AICTE should release the announcement about this within 10 days.
As per this order AICTE released a announcement last month to submit applications for the new colleges approval and colleges renewal.
Among the received applications AICTE has given approval for the 7 new engineering colleges. All over India totally 320 applications were received and totally 152 colleges got the approval.

1.Jeyaram engineering college, gummidipoondi,Chennai.
2.Narayana guru engineering college kanyakumari.
3.Indian institute of crop technology, thanjavore.
4.PSG engineering college, Neelambur, coimbtore.
5.Bodinayakanur government engineering college.
6.Pondichery venkateshwara engineering college.
7.Rock engineering college.
