Top ranked Indian institutes in the world universities ranking (2013-2014)

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has been publishing the rankings of universities in the world, recently they have published the ranking of institutes for 2013/14. As per the list Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA holds the first place. MIT University holds the same position since 2012.

Best performing countries in the top 800 list are US (144 universities), UK (69), Germany (42), France (40) and Japan (38)

Ranking positions are based on various factors which includes students/faculties ratio, international students, academic reputation and more.

Ranking of Indian institutions:

Eleven Indian institutes are present in the top 800 universities list, IIT Delhi got highest position among other Indian institutes, it stands at 222 rank.

When compared to last year report most Indian institutes slipped from previous year positions

IIT Delhi slipped from 212 to 222, IIT Bombay from 227 to 233, IIT Kanpur from 278 to 295 position, IIT Madras from 312 to 313, However IIT Kharagpur has moved progressively from 349th postion to 346.
